POTF BIKER SCOUT

COIN SCULPT

The original plaster POTF Biker Scout coin sculpt is one of the true highlights of my Biker Scout collection. It represents an important step in the pre-production series I've assembled for this coin, which includes the sculpt, "stage 1" hardcopy, and softcopy. The POTF coins were sculpted out of plaster at a 6:1 ratio compared to the production. Crafted with amazing skill and detail, the diameter is significantly larger than that of the coin hardcopy and softcopy. The harcopy was directly cast from this sculpt, which is a positive image as opposed to the harcopy's negative image.

Here is a close-up of the face of the coin showing the intricate detail of the sculpting. You'll notice the green material covering a large portion of the sculpt. It is a mold release material, which aided in separating the harcopy from the sculpt.

Lastly is a photo of the back of the piece, which gives a feel for the plaster this is sculpted from. Many agree that original sculpts are the pinnacle of collecting pre-production material. After all, this sculpt was the first tangible stage, aside from any original artwork, that ultimately led to the production of every Biker Scout coin in existence! A truly rare and wonderful piece for my collection! Unfortunately the "stage 2" hardcopy, etching masters, and production dies have yet to surface for the Biker Scout coin.
