BIKER SCOUT HARDCOPY

I think you'll agree this hardcopy fits nicely with my Biker Scout character focus. I'd like to first point out that the blue head and torso are not from the vintage era. Authentic silicone molds were fraudulently used to make blue urethane parts in the early 90's by a few unscrupulous Kenner employees. Kenner did not take this situation lightly and some of the folks involved in the scam were fired. Although the molds used were legitimate, the products they yielded are not vintage prototypes. Kenner did not use blue urethane for their hardcopies of the vintage line. You'll notice the leg is cast in green dynacast and is a legitimate vintage hardcopy. Although the blue parts are not vintage, the story of their creation is interesting and they serve as nice placeholders when vintage parts are not available. The dynacast leg certainly looks better on display when attached to the blue torso and head as opposed to being displayed alone.

Here we see the piece disassembled. Small metal dowels, which are not present, were used to attach the head and limbs to the torso. I've used a product called Sticky Wax to keep everything attached for display puposes.

Here we see the hard copy next to the production figure. Hardcopies are always slightly larger than their production counterparts since resin is not susceptible to shrinkage like injection molded plastic. Even the blue pieces are larger since they too are cast in resin. I hope to add a complete vintage Biker Scout hardcopy to my collection some day, but for now these pieces will hold me over.
