Hawkman: Kenner Canada 1st Series 12-Back (Free Figure Offer)

Kenner Canada released 31 Super Powers figures in carded bi-lingual packaging to comply with Canada's bi-lingual packaging laws. In comparison Kenner released 33 carded figures for the US market. Cyborg and Steppenwolf represent the two characters never released in Canadian packaging. While Kenner Canada did not offer the "Free Clark Kent" promotion, the figure was available in Canada via mail-away through Canada Fancy's Superman French Fries promotion. Kenner Canada made Steppenwolf available via a mail-away promotion similar to Kenner's Steppenwolf mail-away offer.

Kenner Canada produced two 12-Back card styles for the twelve 1st series action figures. The carded Hawkman shown above illustrates one of the two styles: the "Free Figure Offer" variety. The "Free Poster Offer" represents the other Kenner Canada 1st series card style. While Kenner required submission of five proof-of-purchase seals for Steppenwolf redemption by June 1, 1985, Kenner Canada required submission of only three proof-of-purchase seals by September 1, 1985. Kenner Canada's cardback offer details make no mention of the Darkseid record and rebate coupon inclusion, which may explain the lower proof-of-purchase seal redemption requirement. Unlike Kenner, Kenner Canada opted against branding the rear card face with new Steppenwolf promotion offer imagery. Instead the "Free Poster Offer" advertising section simply featured updated text pertinent to the Steppenwolf offer. All 12 first series characters have been documented in this packaging style.
